Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve (Réserve de parc national de l'Archipel-de-Mingan) consists of a group of 1,000 islands off the north shore of the St. Lawrence Gulf and is accessible by boat from Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan and Havre-St-Pierre. The archipelago, which is north of Anticosti Island (Île d'Anticosti) in the Jacques Cartier Strait, stretches about 150 kilometres (93 mi.) and was formed mostly from sedimentary rock.
